best practice - seperate windows accounts for sql services?

  • Morning all,

I'm trying to decide if I should have separate windows accounts for my SQL Server, Agent, SSRS etc. services.  (As in separate accounts for the services on 1 instance),

I guess given that they need different ACLs / NT rights, it would be better practice to have different accounts.  I'm just wondering if it gets a bit over granular / over the top?

Looking for advice based on your experience / sops / thoughts if possible.

    Thank you.

  • Simple answer, yes separate accounts is the best way to go.

No you shouldn't need to restart.

    Thanks
