Hi All,

Today, I came across a term which I wasn't aware of all these days.
What is login less user in sql server? what are these ? How to create them and when do we use it (i mean what are the use cases for login less users)?
From which SQL Server version , we have these users?

Thanks,

Sam

How to Post Performance Problems
Make sure that you include code in the appropriate IFCode tags, e.g.
<your code here>
. You can find the IFCode tags under the INSERT options when you are writing a post.

It doesn't? Works fine for me. The animation is quite enjoyable. Smile

Excuse my typos and sometimes awful grammar. My fingers work faster than my brain does :-P

Please always remember to encapsulate your code in IFCode Markup. For example

.

Apparently, you need some more help. Once you do the Google search, you need to open the links. Here are the first three that I got.
https://blog.sqlauthority.com/2012/10/04/sql-server-importance-of-user-without-login-t-sql-demo-script/
which is a complement to this one: https://blog.sqlauthority.com/2012/09/29/sql-server-importance-of-user-without-login/
The second one is from this site http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Security/101696/
The third one is from the Microsoft forums https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/7d129880-048c-4834-a72e-c31ead4897cb/database-user-without-login?forum=sqlsecurity
All of them have description of uses for the loginless users. There's no reason to explain them here again.

(i mean what are the use cases for login less users)?

It's great for testing before you "go live" and is an alternate method for assigning permissions where procs can use EXECUTE AS. You simply create a user in a database WITHOUTLOGIN and go from there.

Stop thinking about what you want to do to a row... think, instead, of what you want to do to a column.
If you think its expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur. -- Red Adair
