I'd go with librarian, the skills are pretty similar, organizing data for efficient storage and retrieval, worrying about securing access to important information and preventing data loss.

If there were still computers, I'd probably still be a developer then. If we are asking the question assuming non-computer jobs, I'd probably say some kind of woodworking.

I'm no longer a real DBA now. But, I started working in IT in development. I probably would have kept doing that if I hadn't moved into the DBA role. Although, when I was young, the plan was to become a film director and make great science fiction movies (and maybe a few horror films). That kind of fell through.

For a non-IT related profession: chef, documentary film maker, crime scene investigator. However, if I were to give up my current job in IT, I'd really have to scale back my living expenses; IT has been very very good to me.

Likely something in video gaming like I was doing prior to what I'm doing today. I'm only in data because of accidental reasons, then I fell in love.

I would have been a professional sports person or pursued career in movies. Some incident forced me to pursue sports as amateur. While in college, RDBMS concepts then attracted my attention and helped to set a new objective and glad that it's been satisfying so far though I've a long way to go in acquiring more knowledge(in SQL )which is the ultimate goal I've set in professional life. I am currently doing my Ph D n trying to see if I can contribute in database architecture revamp from performance/ point of view.
I use a phrase below for youger aspirants and used it many places :

Where to start:
College history professor - specifically along the lines of world religions and sociology (I'm atheist btw)
Photographer - I have pro gear and it is one of my passions
And if money were no object - I mean REALLY no object, I'd open a board game store and make gameplay vids.
