Mixing Enterprise & Standard Edition with SSRS

    I am using SQL 2016 Reporting Services. I have the services installed on one machine and the database on another. Both currently are SQL 2016 Enterprise Edition. I know that I need enterprise for the reporting services to support mobile reports and KPI's. My BI person prefers to keep them on separate servers despite the licensing costs.  My question, can I point the Enterprise Reporting Services to a Standard Edition database?

    AFAIK, you should be fine. I would assume the standard edition should be able to run any query SSRS passes to it and hand the data back.  I've done the opposite successfully; I have reports in standard-edition SSRS 2008 pointing to an enterprise-edition SQL 2005 DB with no problems.
