Import wizard: change InputColumnWidth ?

  • Hello,

I've a problem using the "Import Wizard" to load a table from a text file (Unicode).

I've got this error (sorry in french):
In brief, it says a data in column "Composition familiale" is truncated or contains a character not compatible with page code. The problem occurs in line 1013.

When I look at this line, and this column, I see that:

a long text, "Au moins.... ou plus", that has 57 characters.
I tried to change the size of the output column, modifiying it from 50 to 100

but  I've got the same problem.
Then I had a look at parameters of input data and I found "InputColumnWidth" parameters, set to zero, but I can't change it:

NB: in the input text file, if I shorten the text at line 1013 from 57 char. to 50 char., loading is OK.
Please, could you confirm  "InputColumnWidth" parameter is involved in this problem ?
    How to change it ?

If not, what could be the problem... and the solution ? 😉

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    SP

  • Column widths and data types can be changed by clicking the Edit Mapping button

  • Hi Joe,
Where is this  [ Edit Mapping ] button ?
I'm not at work but if I well remember, this button if for output data source, not input.
That's the button I pressed to access to the 3rd picture in my  previous post.

Please, could you post a screenshot ?
    Thanks.

  • You are correct. Try opening the package in SSDT. There are more options there.
