Yesterday I had to remove a database from an availability group for maintenance - a corrupted log that required me to put the database into simple mode, checkpoint, backup, and change back to full recovery mode. I removed the database from the primary replica but didn't do anything to the secondary. I thought the secondary replica would just synch itself up but it didn't and I had to get help to get it back to functioning. The server is a production server and I didn't want to have to restore the database on the primary node but maybe that's what you are supposed to do. So my question is:
What is the correct procedure for removing a database from an availability group and then re-adding it so that the secondary node is in synch?
There is probably a write-up about this somewhere but I have not been able to find it.
