Ola Hallengren Differential Backup issue

    Hello,

    We have Ola Hallengren Backup solution, the daily differential backup job is failing attached the job history, can some one help me with the issue, backup schedule is like weekly full at 8pm, daily differential at 8pm and Log backup at every 15mins.

    There is almost certainly a LOT more to the log file (note the ellipses at the end).

    IIRC, by default Ola's jobs are set to create log files in the SQL Server error log folder. Go open that up and review the log file from this run and you will find your answer.

    I just checked in the error log, the backups taken successfully for many databases and it failed for two DB's,
    I assume failure for these two databases may result in job failing, I can see below message in log, Could you please let me know why these two dbs failed to backup and where can i check the reason.

    2017-04-20 13:04:24.90 Backup  Error: 3041, Severity: 16, State: 1.
    2017-04-20 13:04:24.90 Backup  BACKUP failed to complete the command  <XXXX> WITH DIFFERENTIAL. Check the backup application log for detailed messages.

    I cannot see the picture enlarged. But it looks like 3041. Binoogle may help you there. Also, is that from Ola's job log file or the SQL Server error log? Check both to see if you get additional information.

    Hi,
    did you backup a "normal" database, or some database from "AlwaysOn"?
    Did the error raise on every node from your AlwaysOn Group?

    the message in the picture is same text as below, and this is from Ola's  job log file

    2017-04-20 13:04:24.90 Backup Error: 3041, Severity: 16, State: 1.

    Andreas,
    We are using same Ola's scripts for Log and Full backups, In sql instance not all DB's are in AG group few are secondary and few are primary DB's,
    the error raised in primary server
