I am a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University:
We are conducting a survey of database administrators. We seek to better understand how real-world applications use databases and compare them against the assumptions made in academic publications. For example, one of the things that we want to know is how common stored procedures are in real systems. Most academic papers assume that 100% of transactions execute as stored procedures with serializable isolation but that's clearly not true. We want to use this data to show that academics are solving the wrong problems.
This survey is meant for DBAs that are in charge of maintaining one or more database installations. You will be asked high-level questions about their workloads, including:
The survey is available on SurveyMonkey:
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
