Changing Tabs in Access

  • Not sure if the topic is right.

I am helping out an old company I used to work for streamline their Microsoft Access program. On the main program, No one can see anything at the top tab except for "Home" (below the ribbon).

I need to get permissions or something on this Access program to show the tabs "Home, Create, External Data", and "External Tools" to show.

The person that helped show what to do is no longer with the company and cannot help. The owner thought he did things right, but all of the machines at the place only have "Home" in the tab.

I know this may be a permissions issue, but we cannot figure out where to make the changes.

Sorry, the owner cannot afford to re-write this in .Net. The data tables are in a SQL Server Instance, but nothing form wise since everything else is kept in Access.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Since you have a ribbon, you have to be on Access 2007 or later. The first thing I would try is holding down the SHIFT key when starting the database. Unless some significant trickery was used, that should let you see the rest of the tabs, and be able to open objects in design view. On the other hand if they don't have a full version of Access and are using just the runtime, they will need to move the database to a system that has a full version of Access installed.
