Stairway to Azure?

  • I would like to have a few Stairway pieces on Azure. There are development and admin areas, as well as the various products (DocumentDB, Azure DW, etc.).

The issue I have is that these items change so rapidly, it's hard to publish something and keep it helpful over time. I'm open to suggestions, or maybe commitments to rev articles? We can include multiple authors, so maybe we revisit and change things every year, potentially with new authors?

Maybe we have different people doing different sections of a stairway?

    Comments? Ideas?

  • For me personally I think it should be carved into different products.

I.e. Azure SQL DB, Azure SQL DWH, DocumentDB and maybe even an area to talk about Running SQL on VMs in Azure. Each area should have an intro, a setup section, how to connect, migrate data to it, query it and monitoring/troubleshooting section.

  • I agree, though how do we keep up with changes? If the portal revs, or there are changes/additions to how you migrate data, connect, change firewalls, etc.?

    Not an easy task.

The only way I can think of for an ever changing tech is that you will need people that are willing to own an area and keep it up to date.
