MCSA Certification for

  • Hello,

first of all, I would like to introduce myself. I'm a SQL Server Administrator for 7 years now, my formation was related to it and I know very little on other RDBMS (as Oracle or mySQL). I've wordked for three companies (2 very big, 1 medium), in very different environment and businesses, in two different european countries.

I'm currently in charge of the administration of +150 SQL Server Instances in a +3000 people company, with slight SLA constraints, from SQL Server 2000 to 2014, presenting most of SQL Server componants (SQL Server, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, Integration Services, Master Data Service ) and high availability solutions (log shipping, mirroring and AlwaysOn).

Now, I thinking about certifications, for speed up a bit my career as a consultant (clients, especially bank, almost always ask for a certification).

Following Microsoft link about certification, I saw that there are some levels :

    - MTA

    - MCSA

    - MCSE

Concerning MTA, the description given on Microsoft website is related to very simple compentencies related to database (as create database, manipulate data etc...), It sounds like some certification for fresh people on SQL Server.

I'm currently considering MCSA certifications, and all my questions are about it (sounds like MCSE is far far for me at that time).

    - Does stuffs for study exist online ? (I mean, fake exams or something like that).

    - Doest Microsoft supply some supports ?

    - Concretly, is this certification reachable for people who are working with SQL Server for years, in addition of studdying ?

Thanks a lot, please correct or ask me if something is unclear.
