when report rendered in html 4.0 charts images and logos gone

  I am in a small company where reporting services 2008 R2 is configured. No one officially administers it and it's potential is yet to be utilized. Low on expertise here and I must grow to learn and administer it.

  But right now I have a problem I need to fix before I rise to Admin level and would like a solution (right away! :-)) otherwise guidance toward reading materials and concepts I should familiarize with to solve.

  I made a very nice SSRS report (months in the making) that will function as a template for sending out by subscription about 100 reports to customers, customized for each customer via parameters. Customer can't have access to our report server and will be viewing in Outlook, on mobile phones, in gmail...many client apps.

  On the reporting server the report looks awesome. However, by subscription, whether in Word, PDF, MHTML, or HTML 4.0 format, when opened in Outlook, the report borders shift or images are lost, resulting in awful rendering. I have even installed Adobe 10.0 to see if saving emailed attachment and opening in Adobe makes it presentable. (No, it doesn't). The least offensive of the renderings is HTML 4.0 where the only issue is that the charts images and logos are lost.

  Because the alignment of all the objects of the report and the data still looks great when rendered in HTML 4.0 I'd like to focus on fixing the problem of why the images are lost. The customers do not care (as far as I know) what format they view the report in as long as they can view it in their client tool. So, I really see the solving of the disappearance of objects as the shortest route from problem to solution.

  The images for the report live on a remote server which is not the same as the report server. But the charts were created within SSRS (eg. Report Builder) and I think it's probably because they are technically images as well.

  So, can someone confirm I have a problem with rendering images in HTML 4.0 and then point me in the direction of search terms, concepts, reporting administration configuration ideas that will solve issue of loss of images in the client application when viewing the HTML 4.0 rendering of SSRS reports from our reporting server?
