I have some VMs that with SQL Server that were built as stand-alone servers a few years ago for my own self-directed training. After buying some more powerful hardware I've created an AD Domain on VMs to practice functionality that requires separate servers interacting using Domain Security.
My question is: if a server joins a Domain a significant amount of some time AFTER SQL Server (2008, 2008 R2 and 2012) is installed, can MSSQL utilize interactive functions (replication, mirroring, etc.) with other servers on the Domain with the same level of functionality as instances that were installed after the server joined on the Domain?

You'd be well advised to change the sql server services to use domain based accounts so that they may access network resources.

If that's required to make a SQL instance installed before joining a domain function with other network resources just like one installed on a domain member server that's great.
