I've just had an email from my-cert (the company who take money to sit exams on behalf of candidates) saying that
Due to the DNS problem, we have to transfer our domain my-cert.net to itcertguide.com. We are sorry about the inconvenience it may caused. Now please use the below link to access our website:
Hopefully enough pressure from communities like this will mean that their new site is hit by similar "DNS Problems" in the near future.
In the meantime I'm still working towards my MCSA - one to go.

Wow! Guess I was pretty naive. I didn't know such a company existed. I always thought that testing facilities would at least check a driver's license for proof of identity. It DOES explain a lot, though, and certainly amplifies my habit of ignoring the alphabet soup that some folks have after their name insofar as resumes and the like are concerned.

Good luck on your studies. Good to see someone doing it the right way.

I always thought that testing facilities would at least check a driver's license for proof of identity.

They're supposed to. Either fake IDs that are good enough for this purpose (most testing centers I've been to barely glance at the driver's license) or bribes.

Hell, there are people who will attend interviews for you, proxy exam takers shouldn't be a huge surprise (though I suspect a rather small percentage actually use something like this, much lower than the number who braindump/bootcamp their way through cert exams)

Not really a huge surprise in that they are moving nor that companies such as this exist. There are exam guide companies that pay people to take the exam just to get the question set.

The problem isn't just with cert exams. The same problems exist at the University level too.

Thanks, Jeff. Although the company I work for will benefit from it (it helps with the Microsoft Partnership) I'm doing it as much for me as well. The last qualification I got was in 1979 before I'd ever used a computer so it will be nice to have something on paper to celebrate 30 years of working with data.

So it needs to mean something to me, hence the desire to work on it 🙂

I've had fakers and posers have someone else do their initial telephone interview, so no surprise on the interview thing. The proxy exam takers are a bit of a surprise but, now that you mention it, bribes aren't. I have been aware of "bought" degrees for a long time. Like I said, it's the reason why I don't even look at alphabet soup (or the absence of) on resumes especially since you can buy/fake resumes as well. The in-person interview tells all. 😀

It's a real shame ("disgusting" is a much better word) that people do this type of thing.
