MCSA SQL Server 2012 vs. OCA DBA 11g (Oracle) in time effort and complexity

  • Hi

I passed OCA DBA 11g exams. I have some experience with Oracle, but zero experience with SQL Server.

For me was OCA DBA 11g exams very hard. I learned 2 years.

    e few questions

    - is it possible to pass MCSA 2012 SQL Server without real world experience (only lab)?

    - what's the time effort for an Oracle switcher?

    - MCSA SQL Server 2012 vs. OCA DBA 11g (Oracle): is that similar difficult?

Yes its possible and given that you have passed the oracle exams it will be slightly (only just) easier to pass the 3 SQL Server MCSA exams.

I would say given you have little to no experience I would say aim for 12 months, to put this in perspective we recruited 2 graduates a little over 18 months ago and so far they have passed 2 of the 3 MCSA exams and they had never used SQL Server before working for us and only had degree level database design skills.

I would say complexity of the exams is on a par for each system, but difficulty comes down to the person, one persons easy is another persons hard. Experience really is the key in passing any of these types of exams.
