SQL Server 2008 R2 Activity Monitor

  • In the Resource Waits of the Activity Monitor, There are 1124776 Cumulative Wait Time (sec) for the Network I/O, 1174612 for the Buffer I/O. Are the numbers considered too high? Thanks in advanced?

  • Are you experiencing any Network or I\O performance issues ? What's the recent Wait time and top ones in the list ?

  • Are you experience issue currently? or just seen the number and was wondering?

This is not enough information for us to say is they are too high or not. This is a cumulative value and we don't know how long you system has been up, 1 hour, 1 day, 1year?. I would suggest you look at the current waits that you are experiencing and see if you have queries that are currently waiting on those resources.

  • Many users have been experiencing slowness. I just start looking at Activity Monitor and these 2 numbers alert me.

You should be more concerned about the current wait stats. Do you see any WAIT types that are related to I\O and Ntk ?
