Reverse Engineering Cube to create a project/solution file

  • Hello experts, Is there a way to reverse engineer an existing cube to create a project file? I inherited a cube recently and I'm surprised that no one has the project file. Any help and guidance is appreciated very much!

  • From BIDs (or SSDT if you're using 2012), go to File, Open, Analysis Services Database. This will open up a dialog box. Put in the server and OLAP database name. That's all there is to it. Then you can save or do whatever you wish with the project.

  • Rob, thank you so much. This helps a lot.
