i hve sql208 r2 on windows 7
i had a database attached on the regestered sql server
but few days back when i opned sql management studio the registered sever was not seen , after a lot of searching neither was the server seen nor could find the database
i am not sure as to wht happened with sql
i can reregister the sql but i am not able to find database on my system
any way it can be found & restored

What version of SQL Server? Is this an Express version? If so, it's probably just not started. You'll have to locate it within the file system to get it started. If another version, it sounds like either the server is shut down (look in services on that machine to see if you can start it, same can work for the Express version) or you don't have permissions to it.
