Is it possible to increase the timeout threshold for Reporting Services?

  • Our .Net application uses MSSRS. Currently we have a situation where, on only two servers, the first time our GUI calls to MSSRS, is spins for a while and then gives a generic error on our side, which indicates a timeout, I believe. I can go right back to the same link and it works like a charm.

    Navigation:

    1. Open application, click link to Reporting. This in turn calls MSSRS to display the report subscriptions that are currently available.

    2. After between 1-5 minutes, we'll receive a generic error message in our application.

    3. Re-selecting the same link to Reporting works fine for the rest of the day.

This happens the first time the reporting link is clicked each day. Do not see any errors in Reporting logs, but do see this in our internal logs:

"The specified server is not a valid MSSSRS server or you do not have the rights to access the MSSSRS server"

Any help or ideas much appreciated.

  • Additional info I should have included earlier. One of these servers is 2012, the other 2008. I called it "timeout", but I realize that may not be exactly right. I meant it in the sense of an idle timeout and the subsequent start up.

    Thanks.
