moving Model.mdf file on different drive and Model.ldf file on different drive

  • Hello everyone,

I have some doubt regarding moving .mdf file on other drive and .ldf file ob other drive.

Can we keep .ldf file on different drive and .mdf file on different drive for MODEL database??

    Please suggest.

    Regards

    Ajay

  • Yes, it's possible to have mdf and ldf files on different drives, including the MODEL database.

  • For Model, that's overkill. The database is only used as a template to create other databases (including TempDB), so it should never see any load, so it shouldn't need anything doing to its files. Just stick it with master.
