SSIS and Cube

  • Hi Folks,

I wondered if you have any experience I might be able to tap into on an odd issue I’m dealing with. We have an SSIS package that is refreshing an Analysis Services cube. The DBAs technically own this but I’m making changes to it so that our team owns it and it follows a standard methodology our team uses for development and error notification. Today this SSIS package has 2 components – one to refresh the cube dimensions and one to refresh the facts and is scheduled to run via SQL Agent. Our team does not have authority to see or view SQL Agent. It is also set up to generate an email if it errors out. This was not previously logging to MSDB but I have added that in. I have configured the logging to log ‘on progress’, ‘on warning’ and ‘on error’. With our other SSIS packages (that don’t interact with cubes), if the log errors out (and it’s scheduled via Tivoli), the Tivoli helpdesk will call our on-call phone to notify us. We want to schedule this package to run through Tivoli and if it errors out, they’ll call us. However, I can’t get the package to actually show that it’s errored out in Tivoli when it does error out (it shows as ‘successful’). Have you ever set up anything like this? I’m wondering if it’s not possible to show the logging as “errored” and thus why the email was generated.

    Thanks
