rskeymgmt gets WMI error clearing keys

  • I have a 2008 R2 ReportServer running on a VM image acting as a host for a scale-out deployment that had been running along just fine until the VM admin reordered the NIC's which left the SQL server isolated. After Enabling the new NIC in the SQL Server Config the SQL Browser finds the SQL Server and works fine but now RS says all the keys are wrong and disallows access.

I used the RS Config GUI to delete encryption keys and get an error message from the WMI routine saying "invalid parameter key = null" caused it to fail.

I use rscfgmgmt with the -d or -s option and each return the same error.

I can use the -l option to list the GUID's and -r option to remove them. I still can not generate a key after removing. I can backup or restore keys with no errors during processing but the run time still blocks access even after a key restore of a known good key.

I found and used MOFCOMP on the reportingservice.mof with no change.

How can I clear these encryption keys if both the tools fail? Reinstalling Reporting Services had 0 effect. It was just as broken after as it was before. Executing the SP within the ReportServer DB to clear keys runs and does not report errors. It has 0 effect as well.

    Any ideas?

Sorry for no capture/copy text the server is in a secure location with no internet access with security that would not allow it.
