ssrs 2008 r2 add connect data to a gauge

  In an SSRS 2008 r2 report that I will be creating, I want to add charts and gauges to the report. I can see from the toolbox in the visual studio 2008, where I can drop the item onto the designer surface. However I do not see where you connect the chart or gauge to the dataset to obtain the information.

  I looked online and the url said I should look for dropdown zones. I do not know what the dropdown zones are.

  Thus can you tell me how to connect the database information to the chart or gauge?

  If you click on the chart, you should see a couple of boxes appear to the right of the chart. This is where you choose your data.
