SSRS 2008 Tool Tip Issue

  • i have a report. which has images embedded in it. (like red for value 1, yellow for 2 and 3 for green.)

and i have assigned tooltip to these images which shows the number 1,2,3 to the corresponding Image.

now, these image tooltips are working fine in IE.

but they are working in chrome and mozilla.

Note: report has some text box fields also which has tooltip but they are working fine in chrome and Mozilla , problem is with Image tooltips (only in chrome and mozilla).

    need urgent help.

  • guys, at least acknowledge my problem.

    need solutions ASAP.

  • on thing you can try out

    insert new Image tooltip.

If new Image tool tip works fine then you need to tally the properties of new Image tooltips and Old Image tooltips.

    Thanks for the reply.

image tool tip is not working for even a simple report(have created a new report).

This issue is coming for SSRS 2008. SQL Server Version i am using is :- SQL Server 2008(SP3) - 10.0.5500.0(X64) .

I am viewing reports through ReportMagager. I have built a simple report just to verify the issue. It has only one image and tooltip expression is "1" . These is nothing else in the report.

i want to know why image tool tip is not working in chrome or mozilla but, working fine in IE.

  • waiting for few responses.

  • is the image in a table? if is is try using the tooltip of the cell the image is in. if not try embedding the image in a rectangle and using the tooltip of the rectangle.

thanks for the reply steven, i did something like this... used a rectangle.

well, i must say one thing,, there are some serious issue with SSRS,, i terms of performance.

can u please suggest which is the best alternative to SSRS.?

  • The only one I can even think of is Crystal reports, but I haven't used it in over 5 years. I'll agree, sometimes SSRS performance just sucks and there's not a lot to do to troubleshoot it. I can have two identical reports using the same dataset, one will render right away the other will sit and churn. Sometimes it's something stupid like having a footer textbox that passes one of the margins. move the textbox 1 few pixels and everything's fine. There's no way to figure out what's making the performance suck, you just try stuff until it works.

All that being said, I still like SSRS. 🙂

    "UN-Biased" Love for Microsoft , i guess 🙂 (Kidding).

  • SSRS 2008 does not recognise Chrome as it didnt exist when 2008 was created. Although Firefox did exist the more recent version are completely different from older version.

just do what I do, tell them to use IE, Chrome and Firefox browser are supported
