I would like to upgrade the OS of a SQL Server 2005 Standard installation. The OS is currently Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition. I would be upgrading to Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition
This is my SQL Server version.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.4060.00 (Intel X86) Mar 17 2011 13:20:38 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
My assumption is that I will then be able to add additional memory beyond 4 GBs to the OS and then increase SQL Servers max memory setting to take advantage of the additional memory. Is this correct?
Are there any potential problems I might face when upgrading the OS of an existing SQL Server install?
Accidental DBA here so please feel free to respond as if I don't know much about these matters...

Quick update in case anyone comes across this in the future.
The integration services service wouldn't start and neither would SSMS load.
The relevant error seemed to be “The file C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\%WTF%\mscorlib.tlb could not be loaded.”
I needed to repair the .net installation by going to C:\Windows\Installer\3e60d.msi, right clicking on the file and choosing repair.
