SQL PASS Summit, generally held about the same time every year?

  • So, I'm reading Grant Fritchey's blog post about recommending someone *not* go to the PASS Summit. Leaving aside my feelings on the matter, I've got an easy question.

Is the Summit held about the same time every year? Looks like this year it's the middle of October, what about last year, etc?

If so, that makes it easy for me to work on a plan to attend (maybe next year)

    Thanks,

    Jason

  • I think it's usually around October-November. Last year it was in the beginning of November.

Never went myself though. Someday... 🙂

  • It's mostly been in the October/November time frame. More often in October.

Too much sarcasm in the article or not enough?

No, actually I think for the person who asked the question, you hit the nail. For others (like myself) I think the sarcasm level was just sufficient to push me to start the ball rolling on going to one of the PASS Summits, without coming across like a total **shole...;-)

Besides, having seen your posts here, following your blog, I have some idea of your writing style...

    You don't scare me!:hehe:

Say the people quaking in their boots.

Ha! I hope you can make it to the Summit.

I'd bet your just a big softy in person! The sort of guy who helps get cats down from trees and feeds stray dogs. Helps little old ladies across the street, and holds the door for people.

So do I! I know this year is out, but next year has possibilities.

    Lies.

I've got another post coming out soon that could help sell the boss. Watch for it next week... or maybe it's the week after, I lose track of when I've scheduled these things sometimes.

Nah, not an issue with the boss, just couldn't get the $$$ to go this year. I'm one of those people that would rather pay for something like this out of my pocket and use vacation time to go.

  • It's been in Sept before, a few times, and once in Jan when the Sept one was cancelled because of a hurricane.

When it's in Seattle, it's usually Nov because of costs. Seems that's a cheap time to hold an event. This year in Charlotte is earlier.

I suspect 2014 will be back in Seattle.

Note that there are lots of fall events now. SQL Intersection (Paul and Kim of SQLskills run this) and DevConnections are both in Vegas. The end and start of Oct, respectively.

There's also SQL Server Live in Florida in Nov or Dev.

If you are planning out, SQLBits in the UK is usually the spring and a great event as well.

Don't forget the Belgian SQLServerDays in November 😉

My apologies. I have never been, so it wasn't on my mind.

I have heard good things, and if it were not the same week as Rally, that might be on my agenda this year.

Damn those Rally people! 🙂 (seriously, we lost some good speakers, but fortunately there are still some very good speakers coming our way)

Ah well, there's always next year.

(great that you've heard good things. I'll pass it along to the organisation)
