"A transport-level error has occurred." Running Query Locally

  • I am using remote desktop to a server at our data center, and got this message while running a query:

"A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server"

I am used to getting that when running local SQL Management Studio on my laptop to a remote Server. But, I do not expect to get the error when logged in remotely to a server, running SQL SSMS locally on that server. Any ideas ? There should not be any network blips to drop the connection.

  • Just means that SSMS has been disconnected. Could have been someone killing the connection, could have been SQL restarting.
