We are using SQL 2008 R2 Standard edition. But we now want to set up high availability so want to move to Cluster environment. I know SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise only has the features for "Always On". But now that windows does not sell any license for 2008 R2. Will I be able to buy QTY 2 SQL 2012 Stnd License and downgrade to 2008 R2 Enterprise and use them for 2 cluster server ? Each server has 2 quad core processor. So will I have to buy QTY 4 as 2008 R2 Enterprise can buy per processor basis. In brief, here is the diagram foe better understanding what I want to do (please see attachment)
