Installation Error: Volume does not belong to the cluster group

  • I am installing SQL 2008 R2 cluster in windows 2008, I got the following error:

The volumne contains SQL server data directory(R:\...Oath) does not belong to the cluster group.

The R is from SAN and it is in the cluster storage group. I have L drive and R drive. L is for log and R is for data. If I changed the data directory to L drive, everything is OK.

    Can anyone help?

  • can you provide more info on the cluster disk setups please

  • are you using Veritas cluster or Windows cluster? Make sure your R drive is a part of cluster and is available with the node you are trying to install...
