reindex/reorg transaction log is full

    We have a database for network software that we set to simple recovery mode.

    We have a weekend reindex, and reorg, it sometimes failed because the transaction log is full.

    My question is when reindex or reorg for a simple recovery mode database, how much space it will use, it uses data file space or log file space,

    How can I avoid the space problem?

    Hard to say since we can't see what you see. There really isn't enough information to make any kind of informed response.

    I change the reindex opertion to ola.hallengren solution,

    It is amazed to see it saved a lot of time to run the reindex and also didn't show disk or log full error.
