The database 'model' is marked RESTORING

  • I have 3 SQL instances and every time I reboot the server I have this one instance that I can not get back into because the database 'model' is marked RESTORING and is in a state that does not allow recovery to be run. The other two instances are fine. I'm thinking that if I create a new instance and move the databases to it that this will solve this issue. I'm not even sure why it keeps happening on the same instance every time. Do you think this will solve the Model "restoring" issue?

That may work. Other option would be to replace your model database for one of the same built - please check link next http://blogs.msdn.com/b/karthick_pk/archive/2010/11/26/the-database-model-is-marked-restoring-and-is-in-a-state-that-does-not-allow-recovery-to-be-run.aspx

  • Thanks for the reply. I have followed the resolution in the link and have on 3 occasions recovered the model database. I'm thinking there is something else wrong with this instance since out of three instances on this server this is the only one that this happens to every time I reboot.
