Install SQL Server 2012 in multiple machines using Configuration.ini

  • Dear Friends,

Recently I went through an article about installing SQL Sever 2012 using a configuration.ini file. This procedure basically standardize deployment across multiple server machines. In my work environment, I have to install SQL Server 2012 in a laptop (Windows 7 Professional) and a windows 2008 Server R2 SP1. Would this Configuration.ini option succeed even though the OS is different?

    Appreciate your inputs...

    Thanks

  • I haven't tried to move a configuration.ini between Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, only between two Windows Server 2008 R2. But I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are basically desktop and server versions of the same core.

  • Thank you very much for the information. Never heard about this before and will setup and try to install in different OS's.
