532 event from something trying to use the SQL service account

  • Hi All -

Just taking a shot in the dark here...

Here is my situation. It seems rather arbitrarily a 532 even will show up in the security log on a few of our boxes. Apparently its an expired account calling something that uses the SQL Service account. I have seen this event show up when a SQL job is owned by an expired account. The one I am currently trying to track down is on a 2 node cluster (2005 SP4 x64 EE on Windows 2003R2 SP2 x64 EE). None of the jobs are owned by any expired accounts, no jobs even tie out to the event time. Nothing fails anywhere.

    EventID: 532

    Windows Event Category: Logon/Logoff

    Windows Message:

    Login Failure:

Reason: The specified user account has expired

    User Name:

    Domain:

    Logon Type:3

    Logn Process: Authz

    Authentication Package: Kerberos

    Workstation Name: <Servername>

Has anyone had any success tracking a similar issue down?
