Scripts: SQLcode displays in 1 line

  • I try to submit a script.

But when I paste the code it's displayed as 1 line.

Tried to copy/paste it from SSMS, notepad, MS Word,... but always 1 line

How can I properly paste my code (readeable) before I publish it?

  • I would try pasting it in notepad, and ensure it has the line breaks, then cut/paste from notepad (after saving) to the form.

Are you pasting in the script code box or the description box? Which browser?

  • I've tried to use Notepad, but still 1 line in the code box.

    I use IE9.

When I'm at work, I will try to use Chrome...

I have that same problem when I open .txt attachements on this site. The browser treats the file as html and that completely screws up any formatting.

Not sure if this is what you are doing but it may help.

Even in Chrome, I can not paste into the SQL code box 🙁

  • I'm having the same issue. I bullheadedly tried to make it work entering the script one line at a time, using different browsers, using a browser via remote control software. Even wrote an autohotkey script.

I've been trying to paste a stupid 51-line script for more than an hour.

How can such an advanced website in such an advanced society prevent a 20+ year old technology like paste?

  • It's got to be a security thing. I've pasted in scripts today from both SSMS and Notepad, with FF and Chrome, and they work.
