Good article Steve. The DOI is not even taught anymore in public schools. Yes, most kids can probably tell you that it was signed in 1776 but few could tell you what it actually says and what it meant to those at risk, or even what it means to themselves today. In that regard every child has been left behind.
We talk about how far behind today's students are in Math and Sciences but in my humble opinion, the lack of education in history is even more egregious. If you fail to learn the lessons of history you are doomed to repeat it.
The probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of arrival.
