SSIS error editing script task

  • When I try to edit a script component on one of my SSIS package i get an error similar to the following:

Cannot show Visual Studio 2008 Tools for Applications editor.

Failed to create project at location "C:\Users\xxxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\1\SSIS\7d3c42437ec84914bbc3994ed0d61bc1"! (Microsoft.SqlServer.VSTAScriptingLib)

The given path's format is not supported. (mscorlib)

This only happens on one package. I have successfully edited a sript task in another package on the same server.

    Any Ideas?

  • hi,

I am having the same issue, I was able edit this a while ago, and now all of sudden I just can not edit just this Script task, if I add new task I can edit that...

the only thing I remember last is that package was left in debug mode for about 30 min, and when I tried to edit it after returning I started to have this error

  • hi every one,

I am faceing the similar issue, actually I edited the script and save it in the editor than close the editor window but mistakenly I click the cancel button instead of clicking OK button.

After that I am trying to open the same through task editor but it is giving me same error. although the program is working fine and all the last changes made are running accordingly but I am unable to edit the script.

Please help because I dont have any backup of all those codes.

  • I have find a solution to it, open the dtxs file in notepad and recover your VB/C# codes, it will contain many xml nodes but codes will be avaliable there.

create a new task script and copy/paste the codes ... that's it.

  • Thanks Ibrahim Zuberi

and it helped me , great!
