It depends on how attached we are psychologically to our own personal device(s), but traveling is more pleasant when not weighed down by techno baggage. Thanks to virtualization, cloud hosting, and device rental options, maybe BYOD while traveling by plane just isn't practical anymore. Using any borrowed or rented laptop / brick, you can RDP into a your work PC remotely, RDP to a hosted VM, or download an HD image of your work / presentation environment and run it locally inside vmware or virtualbox. The same could go for a phone. If a company specializes in this type of hardware renting service, they could also supply the high speed WAN connectivity and network required to work remotely in this fashion.
