    one of the most badly designed databases I've had the misfortune to have to deal with was for a helpdesk system where it seems that whoever read designed it had read a book on database design and decided that the higher degree of normalisation  the better - the database diagram resembled a railway network from a highly developed nation and trying to debug an issue was somewhat horrendous
