The global data privacy landscape has seen big changes over the past 12 months. To help SQL Server teams navigate this new world, we've teamed up with PASS to deliver an entire week of online events and resources surrounding the theme of data privacy around the globe.

To celebrate DBAle is holding a competition on the most unusual, funny or inspiring stories you've heard about data privacy or protection - with a box of beer for you to share with your team, or just enjoy yourself, for our favorite.

To enter, simply leave a comment below and to give you some inspiration, here are two fine examples:

  • This newspaper earnestly telling you to reuse your passwords for an easier digital life.

  • Tumblr’s idea of consent in the runup to the GDPR being 325 tick boxes you need to individually go through if you don't want them sharing your data.

Multiple entries are welcome until the June 14th and we'll be sharing our favorites, along with the winner on next month's DBAle podcast.

And don’t forgeto register for Data Privacy Week so you can avoid any mishaps of your own with help from the experts at Redgate and PASS

Looks fun, but either my browser is playing up, or I'm being thick: do we enter by posting a comment or is there a link I've missed?

Ok! As longer as I house my clients'  database server  in a non european country, I am free because I don't have to respect the general data protection regulation (GDPR). ;)

A very recent and topical story is the Salesforce outage due to a change in their Production Environment- "The deployment of a database script resulted in granting users broader data access than intended"...oops!
