Fastes way to increment an id column

This script shows the fastest possible way to set an incremental id to a table of existing data.

Usage

This script shows The script is only an example for the UPDATE statement at the end of the script.

Performance

Performance on my test server (2,4GHz Quad Core) was 233 milliseconds for 100,000 rows to be updated.
