Error when open Access

  • Hi All,

I have run into a problem trying to get Access 2000 working on my machine now.

    Current machine.

    Windows XP.

    .NET 2

    Office 2007 (without Access)

    Access 2000

I have had this working for over a year now on a few machines however now for some reason I can’t get it work.

I basically trying to find out if I have a dodgy install or if it’s something to do with Mircosoft or any new patches that may have come out of the last few months.

Here is the error I get when I try and open access 2000 after my install:

“An unhandled win32 exception occurred in MSACCESS.EXE[2512]”

    Thanks for any help.

    Chris

  • I googled your error and got this

It talks about a comcat.dll virus

  • I remember a few issues with MS Access2000 similar to Acces97 and the installation of Office. I believe the installation order may have something to do with it. You might consider changing the order of .net, office and access installation or an Access2000 transform specified during the install.

  • The install order can definitely be important, especially since you have Access 2000 and Office 2007. I would try uninstalling both Office and Access, install Office, install Access into a different directory. Make sure you install all service packs.

Make sure you install into a different directory to avoid clobbering DLLs that might be needed.
