Transaction Log

    Anyone know if it's possible to query the transaction log or transaction log backup file to find the actual text of commands being executed? I know Lumigent's "Log Explorer" product used to allow this on sql 2000, and when I called them, they mentioned that it's going to be re-released soon. Also, I've tried using ApexSQL's Log product w/o any success.

    I know how to restore to a given point in time, but if I'm trying to troubleshoot a certain type of occurrence, what I'm trying to avoid is running Profiler, and then waiting for the occurrence. I've used triggers to copy to logging tables, but like Profiler, if the problem doesn't surface for several days at a time, and the transaction volume is fairly heavy, it's time consuming to set this up, maintain, and monitor, so that's why I was looking for a way to inspect/query the transaction log directly.

    Thanks Jason. I tried the link, and can see the demo, but can't use the links to get to the trial download (just shows a blank screen). I tried to find the same product on the US version of their site, and I think it's in the "Toad for SQL Server" product's "transaction log recovery" part. Do you know if this is the same product? It's odd that the Korean site / .kr shows different product names.

    And yes it is odd for the sites to have different names for the tools.
