It's almost 9, I've been working for over an hour, and only one foot has left the bed. It touched the floor when I reached over to grab the laptop. Since then I've been working through email, posts, even editing a few submissions to the site.
I miss my coffee, so I guess I'll get up, but it is nice to be productive without even moving. Compare that to driving to an office. I would need to shower, dress, and even a close office would likely be 10 minutes away, so I'd be 30-40 minutes into the day before accomplishing anything.
Not that offices aren't good, and they offer some advantages, but for people that work with their minds, that do computer work, telecommuting can be much, much more productive.

...that's almost poetic. At least the great outline of a Hallmark card for "Love Yer Laptop Day".

When I telecommute my favorite place to work is our big screened in back porch. Nice to take the laptop out there and enjoy fresh air, be able to see grass and trees, smell the flowers. I always seem to be at my most productive when I work from there.

Laptops are nice. Tablets are better. It's even forced me to improve my handwriting. A little.

My handwriting is horrible. I don't have any hope a tablet will read it when I can't.

I've got a Fujitsu lifebook t2010 with windows 7 on it and it gets my handwriting 90% of the time. My wife doesn't get it more than 50% hell I don't think I can read it more than 95% of the time :)
I agree Steve, I use my tablet by my bed and when I'm riding my stationary bike.
