Off to SQLSaturday #14

,

I leave this afternoon for Pensacola and SQLSaturday #14. My daughter is traveling with me, for a short vacation with Dad. She's presented with me 2 other times locally and isn't embarrassed, often helping me flip slides up on stage. We'll see how it goes since I've gotten used to my remote slide flipper, and I like moving things along as I go.

SQLSaturday has been a huge success in my mind, and it's a franchise worth continuing. I was one of the voices of doom when Andy first proposed this to me, and as with a few of his other ideas, I'm happy to have been proven wrong. Most of these events are bringing in hundreds of people, which is amazing for a free event.

It hasn't resulted in a lot of money for my company (End to End Training), and it's a drain on Andy's time, but it's still been amazingly successful. We would like to partner with someone else, besides Red Gate, to help with the time and volunteer commitments, but so far that hasn't worked out. PASS wants to keep pushing their Connection events, which seem to be a waste of time, but what do I know.

In any case, if you attend the event, be sure to stop me and say "hi".
