Comfort vs Style: Comfort Driven

The first time someone pointed me to the ScottEVest web site, I was excited. I immediately sent a series of links to my wife. This Christmas I was awarded by receiving the Revolution Jacket. I was excited, to say the least.

This jacket is extremely geeky, and I mean that in the best possible sense. It’s laid out to support the wired-in lifestyle with the touch-sensitive windows on pockets where I store my Zune & Droid. I love having the pocket for my Kindle DX or my iPad (depending on what I’m doing). Then we get to talk about, quite literally, wiring the jacket for sound. I purchased a set of headphones for the occasion. You can set them up so that you’ve got everything ready to go, to plug in the MP3 player of choice and pull out ear buds from the cleverly concealed pockets, all without a single wire being exposed during every day use. I’m sorry, but that’s geek to the max and I love it.

In addition to the meekness of the jacket, as if that wasn’t enough, it’s also extremely practical. It’s waterproof, and because of the lining, wind-proof. You have a ton of pockets for things besides getting your geek on. I love the detachable hood. I love the removable sleeves that turns the whole thing into a slick vest (again, without having to change the wiring). I’m just generally in love with the jacket.

Before I sound like a paid spokesman, let me tell you the one & only, thing I found a bit off about it. It’s cut slim. I’m a little less slim than I ought too be. Because of this, I though the jacket, while it still fit well, tended to emphasize the fact that my belly was protruding a tad. It doesn’t fit well over a sweat-shirtt or a loose-fitting fleece, just as an example. To be able to wear it with an extra layer, I went & picked up a more form fitting fleece and now it looks a lot better (and I’m working on dropping a bit of weight). Seriously though, that’s the only thing I saw that I didn’t like.

In conclusion, a glorious, geeky, pocket-filled, wired-for-sound jacket and vest and raiin gear, rolled into one. The perfect travel companion. I’m excited about having and wearing this jacket.
