NY SQL Server User Group Meeting - Bill Pearson

By Robert Pearl, 2012/11/28

Thursday, November 29, 2012, brings us the November meeting of the NY SQL Server User Group, with BI expert, SQL MVP and Author William E. Pearson III, aka, Bill Pearson.  Bill has quite an impressive collection of writings on the topic of BI, Data Warehousing, Analysis Services, MDX, DAX, etc., especially over at Dtabase Journal.com

He often presents a cacophony of awesome BI presentations by donating his valuable time to the SQLSaturday circuit, in cities across the country.  Now with SQL Server 2012, there is much to know about its new built-in business intelligence features.  If you are lucky enough to be in the NY area, come catch my friend and gentleman Bill Pearson tomorrow at Microsoft HQ in NY.

Here’s a look at tomorrow’s agenda:

INTRO to SQL SERVER 2012 BI

Why can’t the world just stay the same? Why can’t I just stick to SQL? Why in the World do I want to Use Tabular Models or Multidimensional Cubes and how do I choose between them?

You’ve spent your career becoming proficient at relational database design and SQL, but with every version of SQL Server, you keep on hearing about how BI is over taking the database world. You finally decide to take a crack at it in the latest version of SQL Server, and it seems more complicated than ever. Now not only are you seemingly faced with jumping from SQL into something else, you also are faced with major choices between what that newfangled BI model should be made of!

Never fear, MVP Will Pearson is here to ease your way into becoming a BI expert. A week from tomorrow, after you’ve gotten over all the turkey you’ve eaten over the holiday, and recuperated from getting knocked over during Black Friday, Will Pearson will provide an overview of what problems SSAS is designed to solve and how to navigate your way through the choices of models that SSAS provides.

As usual we will meet at the Microsoft Offices at 1290 6th Avenue. Please click below to register
