Marc Beacom – MCTS (BI, Dev), Principal Architect and Owner at DawaBI, has over 15 years of technical and business experience. DawaBI focuses on Making Data-Driven Decisions Possible by delivering user friendly and scalable data warehouse and business intelligence solutions. Marc is an active volunteer within the community and currently is co-organizer of the Colorado GiveCamp, served a year as a PASS Regional Mentor and served five years on the leadership board for the Denver and Colorado Springs SQL Server User Groups.

People’s sentiments and opinions are written in social networks. There are tweets, Facebook posts, book reviews, forum discussions, and more. These attitudes and feelings are communicated using text, with the format depending on the social network. Twitter messages are limited to 140 characters and use hashtags, for example; Facebook messages can be longer. This session reviews the different Natural Language Processing, text mining, and data mining techniques you can use for sentiment and tone analysis. Organizations can use the extracted knowledge for brand reputation, market predictions, and automatic learning. We’ll look at, Hadoop, data mining, and Microsoft Big Data Hadoop distribution HDInsight

The company grew out of Andrew's background in application software development, dating back to 1985, and his industry expertise in Microsoft technologies including .NET, SQL Server, and Analysis Services. Andrew, who serves as a Microsoft Regional Director and MVP, is co-author of "Programming Microsoft SQL Server 2012" (Microsoft Press), is conference co-chair of Visual Studio Live!, and writes Visual Studio Magazine's "Redmond Review" column.
