I also just discovered that Microsoft released SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM CU1 yesterday. It is Build 1702, and it contains 76 fixes. Even though this seems really soon after the official RTM of SQL Server 2008 R2, it actually makes sense, because the compile date for Build 1600 was April 2, 2010, which was nearly seven weeks ago. I would imagine that the RTM code branch was pretty locked down in late March, as they tried to decide when to go RTM in the “Ship Room”. I would definitely want to apply this CU before deploying SQL Server 2008 R2 in Production.

Does this Cumulative Update applies to x64. I have Win 2008R2/ Sql 2008 R2-x64.

You have to request the proper version of the CU from Microsoft. There is one for x86, x64 and IA64.
