SQL Server 2008 SP1 Cumulative Update 6 Released

Microsoft has released Cumulative Update 6 (CU6) for SQL Server 2008 SP1, which you can request here. This is Build 2757, and it has 33 listed fixes, which mainly seem to be focused on replication, SSRS, and SSAS. They have also released CU9 for SQL Server 2008 RTM, which you can get here.  If you are still on the RTM branch of SQL Server 2008, you need to get over to the SP1 branch, since Microsoft support for SQL Server 2008 RTM ends on April 10, 2010.

There is some issue with the files available at the dowload link for SQL 2008 SP1. It downloads file with version 10.0.1828.0 which can't be installed on 10.0.27xx.

For example: 64 bit download-

404435_intl_x64_zip has the file SQLServer2008-KB977444-x64.exe which is 10.0.1828.0 and which I downloaded from hotfixv4.microsoft.com/.../404435_intl_x64_zip.exe.

I think MS has something screwed up with the Sp1 CU6 files.

I tried twice to download files via MS KB 977443 which should be for SQL 2008 SP1 installs but no success so far.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

You are correct. It looks like the SP1 CU6 setup program has the wrong files included. I have let several people in the Product Group know about it (in case they were not already aware of it).

Several other bloggers have been talking about it also.

Hi,

I just checked and now they have removed wrong files from the download. New files are not available yet.

Thanks for prompt action.

The correct files were replaced last night, and I have confirmed that they work on one test system so far.
