Windows 7 Beta Release Friday

Tomorrow Microsoft will make Windows 7 beta available for download.  I’m a little skeptical but I think just about anyone who used Vista would be.  To be honestly I haven’t had nearly as many challenges with Vista that many people claim to have especially early in it’s release.  However, I did receive the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) a couple times when trying to upgrade from XP to Vista.

Vista problems seem to have become a popular thing to claim though.  The bad reputation lead to the Windows Mojave commercials being released, which told people they were trying a new version of Windows when it was really Vista.  Basically they found people that had never used Vista but already claimed to dislike it.  They told them they were testing the new Windows OS and of course they all loved it not knowing it was really Vista.  Seems like there are a lot of commercials like this now (the Whopper Virgins).

I will definitely be trying the Windows 7 beta.  If anything just because I'm curious how it looks.  Microsoft is attempting to talk it up as a leaner, stripped-down OS.  I think this could be a good blog series.  I will write my experiences with the new Windows incase your not willing to give it a shot.

What are your expectations for the new Windows OS?  Also, what problems did you have with Vista?  I think it could be interesting to hear peoples grips about Vista.

Since Vista is a big issue, maybe people who are still on Vista might go for 7 beta because they just had it with Vista. They would go for anything other than Vista.

I like the touch screen features. Lets hope it is stable.

My big complaints are that Vista just slows me down at times. It's a resource hog and I have a 5GB video file that won't delete. Always "calculating"

I'm used to the interface now and it doesn't bother me so much. I don't like that things are hidden. It's OK to hide them from novices, but it shouldn't be too hard for experienced users to find things.

Overall, it's just not better than XP. And more things seem to fail. I reboot my Vista laptop at least once every two weeks, if not more, but other notebook and the desktop run XP for months at a time.

I am tempted to try Windows 7. Definitely seems the reviews say it's quicker than Vista.
